| Hamels' deal ends when he's 34 - still prime
and now they are stating that there is a vesting option for a 7th year so this contract is almost Sabathia money

Yeah, I know it was. Just tired of always being in rebuilding mode. And Cordero blew a save opportunity last night to Cincy.

| Clayton Kershaw got completely beat down by the 106 degree heat at Busch last night...and it seemed Wainwright thrived in it. Now, we just need to keep winning and for the love of God someone stop the REDS! | |

we have a BIG test this weekend and next week with Atlanta and Washington The Reds and the Pirates both have an easier schedule ahead of them....I gotta look and see when we play them again....gotta make sure we don't get effin' swept this time. The Cubs helped us out by beating the Pirates a couple times. Good luck against Washington and Atlanta!

| Rumor is Pence is going to St Louis...... or not.....last night I saw a tweet from one of our CSN reporters who said that Amaro "hinted" at a Pence announcement last night. The tweet is not longer there so maybe he jumped the gun or misunderstood. Edit again to add that it may have been a copy cat tweeter We're done

| We may actually have a buyer for Blanton - the O's have been watching him since the spring.
Cliff Lee is being shopped although the last I heard, the Rangers wanted us to kick in $$ but I don't know if that makes any sense for us.
Juan Pierre probably will be traded - he's a good guy and probably the reason why we won as much as we did. Not as fast on the bases but he gets on a lot and never misses a chance for extra bases.
Victorino/Pence - who knows what's going on with them. At least one is a goner. I can't imagine that both will go. We only have Dom Brown to bring up. Guess we'll see him tomorrow.

I concur, And I saw a report this morning where Beckett is on the block, bad move I say. Can we just hit the reset button on this season, starting with Bobby V. being hired?

Can we just hit the reset button on this season, starting with Bobby V. being hired? you'll have to wait until april fior that, i imagine ther will be a new manager, probably another new pitching coach, and most of the same players back in april. i don't see them blowing it up, and therefore there will be a reset crawford will be on the dl because he had his tiommy john surgery, the only difference will be lackey will be starting agin next year and by july it will be his name that is bantered around in july and how much money it will cost to dump him

| I can see us making a manager switch this off season - we'll be on a fresh start, maybe fresh coaches. We def need a good hitting coach. | |

We've been done since May. I liked this article. I like Luhnow, he did a great job with the Cardinals, he really built their farm system. I'm hoping some of the guys we're getting in return work out, it's just after Wade fucked everything up, the patience is really wearing thin. I think when we look back, we'll know that we were done then too. The latest is the we are about to "unload". Not as bad as it sounds when you consider that 1/2 of the roster signed 1 year deals last off season. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about that.

| as far as lackey, he is is on tape screaming I HATE THIS FUCKING PLACE while pitching a game for the Angels at fenway. i agree EZ lackey should have never been signed, but 7 years is a long time to sign crawford, good or not, he has was wildly overpaid and signed for too long. Hopefully he will come around, but they knew he had a wrist issue when they signed him, and now the elbow, i just don't think he will ever turn out to be the player he was. | |

| Longterm its a good thing - I'm just shocked right now. That's a lot to take in basically 1 hour.
If they can flip some of the haul from them into 3B Chase Headley, that would be nice.
Then they can work on OF in the offseason.

| correction, they just traded posednik and matt albers for craig breslow from the diamondbacks. He apparently is a left handed reliever who has already been with the sox, but damned if I remember him. he is a lefty, which may open Morales back up for a shot at the rotation if they make another move. | |

| I'm exhausted I expected more of the 1 yr bench players to go - Pierre for example. I thought someone would take him. Blanton could still go later during the waiver period. Still shocked but now looking forward to the off season. Oh and Dom's flight was delayed - may not be there in time for game. He's in PA (ok, he was in upstate NY, but still) - they're in DC - he could've driven there in a couple of hours

| red sox have won 4 in a row, beckett got booed after leaving the game last night after 2.2 innings. he was pitching fine, but got back spasms. I predict that he's on the DL and Morales in the rotation by the end of the day. | |
