The Phillies have a 4 game winning streak after sweeping the Nats

We play the floundering Mets next

quietly moving up in the standings... DBacks are starting to wobble...Pittsburgh hasn't been that good lately..... probably too little too late....but they have us all asking what if? 77

either way, since most of these guys will be on the roster next season, things look almost good :O

It had to be done, I like agon, he was a productive player, and will be hard to replace, but I really like the deal. It is stunning to me that they were able to unload all that salary with one deal, that shit just doesn't happen in the MLB. Now if we can get some ptichers.

I have zero interest in hamilton, or grienke, the two big names this off season as far as free agents, but they will definitely need a couple or 10 pitchers, except garza, we don't want garza, he spits too much.

I wouldn't mind Hamilton. They'd have to have some clauses in that contract to protect us in case of relapse but he'd definitely add the "pop" that we've been missing in the OF

Greinke would never be considered here (or Boston I'd imagine).

I don't think either of them would fit in Philly either. grienke especially, he has problem with pressure, and i think he would fall apart under the white hot spotlight of the press in either town.
I really am impressed that Cherington was able to pull this off, I never thought he'd be able to get rid of beckett or crawford, and never in a million years did I think agon would be traded.

Hey Vod...that was some house cleaning trade, wasn't it? Hope it helps everybody...

Tigers plod along, not dropping out of the race, not stepping it up. Starting ptiching (outside of Verlander, and now Scherzer) isn't reliable, and now Valverde isn't either, to give a runless outing...too many teams around the same record, so Tigers' only hope is to get ahead of the Wite Sox, and they're on a tear lately...

Hey meeps, it was rumour when i leeft for the cape, it wasn't until saturday afternoon when i came in from working on the yard that i found out it had happened. i really think it's a good trade in the long run for the Sox. it gives them alot of flexibilty to put a better team together than they had. i'm sorry to see agon go, he is a great player, but if it had to happen to give the sox the 'mulligan" they so desperately needed so be it. They will find some players

So, um we're 6 games out of the wild card coffee

Still a long shot but if they say that the Brewers have a shot, then we certainly do! (we're tied)

Either way, its a lot more fun to watch when you are playing towards something.

They're also bringing up their own wonder kid today - Darren Ruf broke Ryan Howard's AA homerun record this season. Hopefully we'll see him tee off on the Marlins tonight.

All in all, hopes are high, not just for this year but next. We'll be back Cool

Cool

our playoff odds have doubled overnight 987

We're still tied with Milwaukee but I give us the edge over them. The Pirates, Dodgers and Cardinals are all having trouble winning.

Hopefully Halladay and Lee will bring home a sweep. Then off to Houston.

Phillipe Aumont, one of the "Cliff Lee kids", is alright

He was a closer in AAA and so far has handled the 8th inning well. Too bad he was hurt and didn't get a full season in.

Philly picked up another game, Imma be a philly fan for the est of the year. also, i am rooting for the sox to at least beat NY 2 more times to help out baltimore. ironically, even though baltimore single handedly knocked us out last Sept, i would rather see them win

6 wins in a row; finally back to .500

4 games back

Cards, Dodgers and Pirates all lost last night

The Brewers also beat the Braves, not that it matters. Unless Atlanta pulls another Sept collapse then they'll be the first WC.

This has been the most exciting September the Phillies have had in a while. I guess backing yourself into a corner has its benefits. Every game is a playoff game.

Cliff Lee for the sweep!!!

That's how it was for the Cardinals last year.....Watch out though, if the Dodgers sweep the crap out of us in this next series, I'm gonna go ahead and name them as the second wild card team. If we beat them, I think we're staying put. Gotta watch the Brew Crew too.

I don't know who Pittsburgh plays but the Cards and Dodgers play each other for 4 games so if they split, and we sweep, the WC could be ours by the end of the weekend mwaahahaa

We play LA but after that we play the Astros and I think we play the Cubs again....so nothing too serious there....but the last 3 games of the season are with the Reds.

The Cardinals look tired...So much has happened this year, it's a wonder we're even where we are. We have one of the best, if not the best offense in the NL but can't effing hit when we need to. Blugh, frustrations.

We get Jaime Garcia back who for the life of him can't pitch on the road....Wesbrook goes down, so we bring Lynn back to the starting rotation....There's talks that Carpenter might make a miraculous return to the rotation. The bullpen isn't as scary as it used to be but who cares when the starting rotation IS scary. Furcal out, Freese playing a tad hurt, Berkman gone, Beltran not being Beltran....sigh.....it goes on and on...

I like the run the Phillies and the Brewers are making, it really does make for an exciting time. I'd like to see one of them there if the Cards are going to completely fall apart here....or the Pirates rather than the Dodgers and all their money.
