i have a feeling that will be the case for the red sox also, they lost a game against the anahiem la somewhere near southern california angels of the west because their bullpen couldn't hold a 4 run lead in the ninth, and last night it blew up again.

Ours as well...they're schizo...I never know for sure what shape the middle relievers will be like...starters are dependable for at least 6 good innings usually. |

apparently ours is responsible for about 14 losses this year. If we had those leads/wins back, we'd be the ones 7.5 up in the division I think its even affecting Pap - Lannan held the Nats scoreless for 8 then Pap gives up 2 for his save. There's potential but no anchor.

here too ours is mostly young guys that have been called up in the last 2 seasons out of necessity. They throw hard, but can't always find the strike zone. Some day, they'll be good.

the bullpen is a complete shambles, and to be honest they may have to trade for some relief if they want to stay in this, once again they gave no run support to lackey, and lester is still screwed up. they need the allstar break to take a breath.

| not sure that webster is the answer for a number 5 starter, a win is a win, but having to score 11 runs and squeak by 11-8 against Seattle is asking a little much from the offense.
i know he's a nutjob, but i really think aceves might be a better answer short term for a number 5, and then when bucholz comes back ( if he ever does from a friggin stiff neck) aceves moves to the bullpen to give some help.

| I wish the Braves would have the decency to lose while we're winning. Hamels may be finally turning it around - it was an exciting game last night | |

2 back to back homers in back to back innings we have the weirdest losses sometimes its ok - we've already secured at at least a split with this series. I'm trying to learn patience. And Darin Ruf hit a HR - so that's positive sign I think we have a Detroit series coming up after the break

his problem is that he throws "too many" strikes he doesn't give in. The Nats have some big bats - sweeping them in 4 games was probably unlikely anyway

| wow, terrible pitching for both starters, and then 5 plus of scoreless relief from a washed up comedian, and a win in the top of the 10th. 20 games over .500
20 games over 500 going into a weekend matchup against oakland, and we will be in first place at the allstar break no matter what happens.
stunning, just absolutely stunning

A guy called the sports station this morning and said they hired him on purpose to be sooo bad that no matter what john farrell did he would be better. I credit the front office for the "trade' and for bringing in the players they did, but i certainly don't think they hired Valentine just so Farrell would look better when he showed up.

stunning, just absolutely stunning wow - that's got to up there among the leaders we can get to .500 tonight (again) with a win still climbing that hill won 3 of 4 from the Nats though if we can somehow get a lock down 8th inning guy and a RF then we may actually have something to work with

I can feel the hope rising again; Its a viscous cycle they ahve been pitching well, you still have some trouble scoring runs, if you could get a few more runs on the board you would be fine. soo you need a little power from somebody not named brown in other words

| well we have Ruf now but he's only been here a week and has hit 1 HR. Utley still has some power and we get Eric Kratz back soon (backup catcher, probably going to give Ruiz a run for his money soon).
Delmon Young (as a local reporter put it) is not friends with the outfield. And he make Ryan Howard, bum knee and all, look like a fast runner. We need a RF.

I think they would have been a lot better last year with Farrell then they were with Valentine. I do too, or with francona too, valentine is not the kind of manager that works in the MLB, at least not with a tem like the red sox. they need a person like farrell or tito that keeps things in house and communicates with the team, not a supreme leader attitude like Valentine had

| we've achieved .500 at the All Star Break at the cost of one centerfielder who broke his ankle on Saturday can't we catch a freaking break? Now instead of getting a RF to compliment the team we NEED another OF One the plus side, the bullpen is getting a little better. Its still an adventure but they played 3 extras and won 2. The game I went to was the longest - 13 innings and it was over at 1am. I'm still trying to catch up on my sleep. | |

| Tough luck, about the bad break (sorry...had to... ) Well we end on a good note...Verlander has 6 2/3 innings of a no-hitter...second time this year he's taken a no-no into the seventh inning....more important it was a solid outing...who cares if he doesn't pitch in the ASG? I sure don't...he was able to pitch well in the steambath that we had here yesterday...he always has been a better hot weather pitcher...bodes well for our second half, if he can get back to his normal consistency. |
