I don't know - its pretty dismal (and I'm an eternal optimist for my team)

they have mostly been no-hit through at least the first 6 innings in every game. I did see that Marlon Byrd is hitting at least - that's one.

Of course I look at the line up for today and there's hardly any regulars on it. You'd think Sanberg would start getting these guys in. At this rate they won't hit until July.

And its "hold your breath Wednesday" as Hamels is scheduled to throw off a mound today. *fingers and toes crossed*

that would worry me, more than the hitters, it's important to have your pitching staff ready for april.

if we lost a lester or a Bucholz before the season started it would worry me more than if the hitters seem to be off in the spring.

he says there is no pain - just a feeling of "tired" and "dead arm"

He didn't throw much in the off season due to tendonitis and maybe he did try to ramp it up too soon - we shall see.

best case right now is he is ready for May

I agree, you can always replace a bat, losing a 1 or 2 starter can ruin a season.

Hamels' bullpen went well. He's probably a month behind if there are no further set backs.

He had either shoulder or biceps tendonitis when he began throwing in Nov and was shut down.
When he came into camp the first day, he announced that he was 8-10 days behind. Then he felt like he had a dead arm after throwing a bullpen the other week so he was shut down to rest. He says he's not hurt, that he just tried to accelerate his workouts and throwing to try to come back ASAP. He says he feels good after today. He also says he's not lying (last year Halladay continually said he wasn't hurt).

Lee is pitching. I think it may actually be televised for Bostonians . Not for me of course. The only air them here while I'm working.

yeah things are shaping up pretty well, looks like sizemore is making it very difficult for JBJ, I think he will be the starting CF and bradley will be in AAA to start the season

nava in left, sizemore in center, and victorino in right.

my boss got a text from one of his friends gloating over the game yesterday omg

C'MON MAN gloating over a ST game, that's what Yankee fans have been reduced to, it really kinda sad.

I see he has been out already with a sore calf, and Iggy has shin splints and may miss considerable time this year. maybe the tiggers sign drew and we get a draft pick from them.

Peavy trade is looking better, as long as he can manage to keep all his friggin fingers attached.

no I haven't heard, I'm sure they could get something for him though, the way his contract is written he is a desirable commodity.

I think I would keep him though, at lest until the season starts and they see where they are

who do you think would take his place in the rotation if they did trade him??

workman?? webster??

I say let him stay for now unless someone wants to give up alot for him, and see where the youngens are, I'm sure there will be teams looking for an innings eater by May

yeah me too, but he is the kind of pitcher they need, he will go out there every 5 days and pitch 7 innings.

Workman may be next in line, webster has better stuff, but is still too inconsistent for me.

the rest of the young ones need more seasoning and would best if they spent most of the year in Pawtucket.

I'm interested to see how fast the pitchers get a level of comfort with AJ, I know he's a vet, but it took a couple of years before they learned to trust salty, hopefully they can get in a groove with the new guy a little faster.

I suppose ross will help there, but I am a little anxious about that.

besides, Bucholz takes 10 minutes between pitches already, i don't need to see him shaking off calls 2-3 times through the list  tongue

yeah me too, I understand that they have some guys coming up, but they could have signed him for 3 years ata decent amount, and then traded him when some of the AAA guys were ready, plus the pitchers were comfortable with him, and he stepped up when ross got hurt and played just about every day for 3 months

I was wondering when this would happen, he needs a place to play regularly, and maybe they get something in the way of a prospect for him.

Also a good idea to let him get some time at first base, he will be more useful to other teams.

I think so, if he is able to hit like Papi at the age then it is definitely worth it.

which for him would be a downgrade.

i'm not sure i would pay papi 30 million to hit like he does, that's a ton of money for a DH, but then again, what he did just in the world series last year made the team more than that!!

I was just comparing him to another older player who's numbers are good, they better hope he doesn't go the Pujols route.

Eh, these are just predictions, I bet half of it looks different come October, I mean, the Blue Jays were supposed to win it all last year, and they finished in last place.

sigh..wish i could get excited about it..our team still sucks..our future is bright..but i cant watch the future right now til they bring them up...they leave all our prospects in the minors way too long..Baez should be up starting at short with Castro's overrated ass at second...Bryant should be at third with Olt as back up infielder...Rizzo at first...Soler in the outfield..etc...but no..we'll just go ahead and put shit out on the field another year....'be patient'

We have about 6 on the DL already.

Lee gave up 4 runs :| That's one thing about him - as soon as you give him a lead, he blows it. He's better in a close game.
