I gave up on watching those prequels that they did but having the original cast back may lure me in.

The first 2 prequels were so/so, you should watch Episode III though, it holds up with the originals, and you see Anakin become Darth Vader

I used to want to be Princess Leia - not because she looked hot in a gold bikini. Because she took the laser blaster and shot up the bad guys while bossing around the boys. She was my hero.

I just watched the trailer. I may go see this.
I loved the original 3 but never got into the prequels. I only watched the first and didn't like it.
But bringing back Han and Leia - now I'm interested.
Plus, it never hurts having JJ Abrams at the helm.

So excited for this.. Darth Vader dies in episode 6 tho right??
And we know Mark Hamill in reprising his role as Luke Skywalker but he is not in the preview.. do you think Luke is the new Darth Vader?? Like in the trailer when he says I will finish what you started.

it's funny you say that, Des
I was listening to a radio station this morning and they were discussing this. A caller suggested the same thing - that Luke will be turned like his father. I got that Luke only briefly appears in the end. the radio hosts cut the convo short since they all agreed that they didn't want any spoilers - true or otherwise.
Sounds like that would be an interesting plot turn though.
And to answer the first question: didn't Luke finally kill Vader? I haven't seen that one in a while.

Who else would continue Vader's work? Princess Leia?
I want to try and get Marcus to watch the original films, as he really only knows star wars because of Lego and the Clone Wars show. He loves it but I am not sure the original films will be captivating enough for him.. Maybe i'll start with Episode one, since he knows more about Anikin then Luke.. Lol it took forever to get him to understand that Anikin is Darth Vader and Luke is his son

I don't there has ever been a consensus on if Luke was the actual cause of his fathers death.. Vader get electrocuted or whatever I think that is what ultimately kills him hence the melted Darth Vader mask

based on the prior films I don't think Luke would be an obvious choice. is he for certain the one who said that? I only saw one of the trailers

I looked it up
Luke watched Vader die - removed his mask first so he could see him
it was after Vader threw the Emperor down the shaft so technically the Emperor killed Vader
If it is Luke who is turned to the Dark side that's a big jump considering he fought the urge to turn while fighting Vader and the Emperor.

Yea, its just a theory, I just found it interesting that they announced he would be in the film but didn't show him at all in the previews.
It is suppose to take place 10 years after episode IV a lot can happen in that time. Anikin turned to the Dark Side in fear of the loosing his life.
This is the warning Yoda gave Anakin regarding the Dark
YODA: Careful you must be when sensing the future, Anakin. The fear of loss is a path to the dark side. ANAKIN: I won't let these visions come true, Master Yoda. YODA: Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them, do not. Miss them, do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is. ANAKIN: What must I do, Master Yoda? YODA: Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.
But Plalpatine told him otherwise
PALPATINE: I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life ... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. ANAKIN: He could actually save people from death? PALPATINE: The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural
Palpatine also tells Anakin that the Dark Side is not evil and that the Jedi order does not always do things for the greater good like they claim. The Dark Side just offers more power with Force where as the Jedi order limits its use of the force.
Maybe Luke discovered something about his father's work and became convinced that he could use the power of the Dark Side for good, or has lost himself and been consumed by the dark side.
There is also a lot of speculation on who the girl is.. Luke's daughter or grand daughter maybe?

So I broke down and bought both trilogies last week and geeked out on Saturday watching episodes 2-5 and finishing 6 Sunday morning.
The second prequel wasn't too bad but the Revenge of the Sith was actually fantastic. I loved watching Anakin transform into Vader. It also made me appreciate Return of the Jedi more - they really tied everything together nicely.
With the watch fresh in my mind, I don't think we'll see evil Luke. He may have exiled himself or something but I just can't fathom that after all he went through that he'd turn to the Dark Side like that.

I don't think so either, he will not be evil in this, probably just training himself in the force, making him the ultimate Jedi.
