classic Del, love it. I'm with you I think, I like his earlier stuff way way more than the later. earlier stuff was edgier, and his voice sounded a lot better.
while I liked his big hits, I also dug Elderberry Wine (which I only heard because it was on the flip side of the Crocodile Rock 45, which I had), Island Girl (which is really really not politically correct, he could not get away with it today I don't think), I feel like a bullet, Honky Cat (is that considered a hit?), and All the young girls love alice. there are probably more, I just haven't heard em in a long time so i can't recall the names.

you might like this one Long John Baldry fronted a band called Bluesology and Reg Dwight was the piano player on sax was Elton Dean when Reg went solo he named himself Elton John. here is a Leadbelly song off LJB's 1971 album It Aint Easy Elton John and Rod Stewart produced this album. Rod Stewart was in a band The Hoochie Coochie Men with Long John Baldry. Long John moved to Vancouver in the late 70's If I were to make a list of albums you need to own this would be on it.

Journey is cathartic for me, takes me to happy places. And Journey is better LOUD, turn it up.

pshaw, me too Del. no shame there at all. Abba was(is?) awesome, and I believe the biggest moneymaker Sweden had for awhile

I like ABBA.. I also very much enjoy this cover of Take A Chance on Me...
They almost look just like them
I have all of their remastered cds. No shame there. Most peeps seem to simply label them as disco and just write them off. When that happens, I immediately disregard their opinion. I mean even the Rolling Stones had some disco infused songs. It was the 70s for cripes sakes. Benny & Bjorn were talented songwriters and Agnetha & Frida had great voices that blended well together. Now sometime in the early 90s ABBA became 'uncool'. One advantage of being unpopular (IE: loner) growing up: you didn't have to care whether something you liked wasn't popular. I ABBA and I refuse to join ABBA Anonymous. Like Lester Bangs said in Almost Famous: I'm uncool.

here here, stuntdog. I think B & B are great songwriters, they always seem to find a good catchy hook for each of their tunes. Even the slow ones (like 'Eagle' or 'The Way Old Friends Do') while not hooky, the harmonies they wrote were great. And man, talk about longevity - if your group's name can be mentioned after 45 years and still be recognized (and you had a friggin musical and a movie with Meryl Streep made about your songs) - that says something.
this one didn't even chart here in the US. shame. wow, look at those outfits (tried to find a live version, no luck)
