I'm not sure if they nailed down that they really were under inflated. They did the measurements after the fact with two different gauges and came up with different answers on all of them. I'll try to remember to look up where I saw that. At this point there's so much going around about it I'm not sure what's real or just speculation.

To be fair, they offered to let Brady's agent hold his phone and HE look through it and say whether there is anything responsive to their request, ie texts from anyone in the Pats organization regarding the deflating of balls, and they will take HIS word for it if he says there isn't, and they still declined.
I've always been a big Brady fan, I think the guy is one of the best EVER, and I don't hate the Pats. That said I think the suspension is fair. He had to have known, there is NO WAY some low level ball guy is going to take it upon himself to go to the bathroom AFTER the refs checked the air pressure and let out air all on his own. It is in NO WAY conceivable that was done without at least Brady knowing about it, if not with his consent.
to me that's IF the ball boy actually did let air out of the balls when he was in the bathroom. I have doubts about that even happening. And if it was a problem ( walt anderson said he was panicked) when the ball boy took the balls and disappeared with them, why didn't they just make them use the 12 back up balls instead until the others could be retested, or at least randomly retest a couple of the balls before they let them play an entire half of football.
I agree it is "more likely than not" that there had been some tampering, whether it was that game or in the past. there was no damning evidence to me that they were told to do it for the particular game that the investigation was concerningand I don't see how you can suspend a guy 4 games for a minor infraction of a minor rule that half of the people in football never even knew existed before this. it just seems a bit on the overboard side. 1 game, even 2, and just a fourth round draft choice would have been more than sufficient for the infraction as far as I am concerned. I bet it gets reduced to a 1 or 2 game at most during the appeal, and they made it big to make sure he did get some kind of punishment.

I'm a big Tom Brady fan, but I believe he knew, and told the ball boy to do it, no way does he mess with the balls unless he is told too. It wasn't just the Colt game, the Ravens said they suspected the balls were under inflated the week before in the divisional game. I wouldn't be surprised if other teams came forward with tales as well. I do think the suspension will be reduced, if not flat out thrownout. I don't think this hurts his legacy, he is still one of the greatest QB's of all time and the best of this generation.
When the news broke they were considering a suspension, I thought it would be in the 8-10 gm range, so in a way, he got off light. I don't think the million dollar fine hurts the Patriots, they will recoup that from Tom's suspension. The first round pick will more than likely be somewhere between pick 25-32 anyway, how much can it hurt, the Redskins never have a first round pick. The fourth round could be costly because the truly great teams, like New England find their gems in the late rounds. I think it would have been ironic if they had taken a 6th round pick, like Tom.

after listening to the endless rhetoric about this case, I stand by my statement that tom brady may have told his guys that he wants the balls at 12.5 lbs, and if anything happened they took it upon themselves to deflate the balls. to me that's a huge IF, as most, if not all of the "deflation" could have been because of the conditions that day. The NFL could have gotten something out of this whole mess if they had been reasonable with the suspension, reasonable with the appeals hearing, or reasonable in the court case. i don't believe Brady did anything other than tell the ball boys that he wanted his footballs at the lowest levels and I wholeheartedly agree with the decision to vacate the suspension entirely.

This is ludricous, the season starts one week from tonight, lets just get on with it and move on, I am sick about hearing, and discussing PSI of footballs. It clearly had no effect on the game, 45-17 says it all!

tonight starts the Sam Bradford era
I can't wait to watch him play a (hopefully) whole game.
The off season was a little scary with all the changes that were made but it's "In Chip we trust" all the way.

that's next week and I don't think they had much of a chance before; now they're down another guy.
Bradford is out wild card right now - if he plays like we've been told he can, we should have a great season. It could be our time.
(leave me alone - I've had a miserable baseball season - we need a winner!)

there is going to be an implosion in seattle soon, I can feel it, too many big personalities on the team, and a coach who wants to betheir friend, it works fine when you're winning, but when you're losing the wheels fall off pretty quickly. mark my wrds there will be more and more dischord on that team unless they start winning again.

no, the outlook is pretty dismal
I can't believe Sanchez didn't get put in yesterday.
I had to turn it off - I couldn't take it anymore. I don't think they got a 1st down until the 3rd quarter. The offense still moves fast - going 3 and out all day will do that.
bad bad bad

I don't like Chip Kelly's system AT ALL. Well, as a Cowboys fan I love it, but I would hate it if he were in Dallas.
This isn't college. It's tough to dominate anyone like you can in college. Running this fast offense puts your defense on the field way too much. Controlling the clock in the NFL is huge, much bigger than in college. The Eagles defense was pounded yesterday.

I'm sure many tv's were broken or came close to be during that game. I was so disgusted I had to turn it off.

I saw a video the other by an Eagles fan walking out of the stadium after the Cowboy game. He spoke about the lack of running game and how he has never been so embarrassed. The Cowboy fan in me of course likes what I saw Sunday, the football fan in me felt for the guy. At the very end he looks straight at the camera and to Chip Kelly he says very emphatically "FIX IT". It was a good video. I can feel his pain thinking about when we went through our crap years, it's frustrating, the difference here though is Kelly was given so much control and got rid of Folks, McCoy, Maclin, he mad so many moves, it's all on him rather than a team getting old like we did and had to rebuild.

We knew it was either going to be genius or a complete disaster.
The defense is actually not too bad - Maxwell may be a bust signing though.
In retrospect, Chip probably should've paid Mathis - that's probably the biggest gap in the offensive line. He replaced a pro-bowler with no one.

We finally won but I think we need a QB unless they plan on going with Sanchez. Bradford seems skittish still. He can throw laterally but going downfield is a problem. I'm not even talking about airing it out - just throwing more than 3 yards seems to frighten him.

I get that impression as well. I can't help but wonder if he's just trying to get the ball out of his hands as quick as possible because of a fear of getting hit, given his injury history.

I think last week Brian Westbrook said that - that Sam doesn't like being hit.
Now is a fine time to find that out.
Our other issue is that the wide receivers have been largely unheard from. Even when the ball is throw, it's to a running back.
This whole season is just weird so far.

not if he can still play, he seems like the kind of guy that will keep playing until he isn't able to perform. he takes good care of himself, and there is no reason to think he will retire next year, or even the following year. an injury or sudden drop off in performance may change that but if he stays healthy and can still be effective, he will play into his 40's
he is playing as well as he has in years, which is trouble for the rest of the league. he averages about 2 seconds from snap to throw and it's really hard to sack a guy who gets rid of the ball that fast.
