| Who you got?
Go Chesapeake Bay Retrievers of UMBC! UMBC is the University of Maryland, Baltimore, a good school perhaps better known as a chess team powerhouse/dynasty. The Retrievers, named for the Maryland state dog, face top seed Virginia, and they are going to make the chess team PROUD.
I gotta check on the Richard III bracket. As a Catholic warlord, he'll probably be looking at Villanova and then deciding between Xavier or the annual heartbreak of Gonzaga. At first glance, Chicago-Loyola and Iona appear to be the only other warlord bracket possibilities, so he may need to pick pragmatism over piety.

*cough* RETRIEVERS. UMBC RETRIEVERS MAKE HISTORY. I technically missed it bc I had a pillow over my head most of the second half, but still. RETRIEVERS. #TrueGrit#SuckItThomasJefferson

| I was glad Michigan won on a crazy 3 pointer. Sad that Ohio and Michigan State (losing to Syracuse) went away. But Purdue is still around. Lots of high ranking teams are being slaughtered by severe upstarts. | |

| I must have misread the brackets because I thought Michigan would have to play Kansas. Instead Michigan faces Loyola-Chicago which scares me a bit. I'd almost prefer Kansas. But Kansas must face Villanova which really sounds more like a finals game. | |

Oh me of little faith. Always trust the III. The medieval Catholic warlord bracket arrives with two in the Final Four, which, given the bracket ruin wrought by the UMBC Retrievers, ain't bad. It could even be an all-warlord championship game, but we're probably not worthy.

| Michigan should match up well against Loyola. Sister Jean said she gave up losing for lent. Good thing for us the game is after Good Friday.
I think 'Nova wins this whole thing. They just look way too good.

| Definitely a wild tourney this year. A 16 seed won a game, USMC was The Big Cindy, no SEC nor ACC team in the Final Four (did any even make the Elite Eight?), and one side of the bracket has a 9 seed and an 11 seed.
Bookmakers made fortunes.

FSU and Duke? I'm not convinced that getting more teams into the tournament is necessarily the best indicator of where the highest quality teams are located.

| Yes Duke had that overtime elite 8 game with Kansas. | |

| Ah, yes, each of those conferences put one team in the Elite 8. Thanks for the reminders. Still a little odd to see a Final 4 with neither, or so it seems to me.
Neither of the local schools here made it to the dance this year - UAlbany Great Danes and Siena Saints have been perennial threats to make the field though neither has ever come in at better than a 16 seed.
So i rooted for 'Cuse, which is my standard default when it's available. They did okay.
I have nothing even remotely close to a dog left in this fight. Even discounting seeds, it does seem like Vilanova is only team left that has an offensive capable of explosivity. Lots of great defense in this tourney, that game that Maturin's Cinderella team lost had a low overall score by high school standards, and it wasn't because the guys couldn't shoot.

| RIII was good at both kingology and bracketology. Congrats to Villanova, national champs and heir to the York restoration. | |
