| Very mildly concerned about fate and trendlines for the Washington Capitals, given what's happened with Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh (gohomeSidneyhahaha). But we'll always have Ovechkin's TKO of that baby Hurricane, plus Tom Wilson, my honey bunch of oats, being the Caps' nom for the humanitarian player award. <3 | |

| There are potential pitfalls at every round of the Cup playoff bracket for the Caps this year. From what i've heard, they should be able to handle the rest of this series with Carolina. The Caps and Islanders split their season series, and iirc the road team won each game. The Islanders also just swept Crosby and the Pens, so they'll be well-rested.
But the Conference Finals, should they get there, are likely to be really scary. Tampa had 62 regular season wins. 62! That's dominating shit.
I'm pulling for the Preds again this year, although it'd be nice to see the Islanders continue to do well too.
Best of luck to your Capitols, Maturin!

| Still depressed. Certainly rooting for the Islanders over the H-Words, and maybe the Blues overall, bc hub is from St. Louis. That Sharks win was something else. Only saw the very end, but whew. | |

| This year featured a truly remarkable first round of playoffs. I think i read somewhere that never before have all 1 seeds, all divisional champions, and the defending Stanley Cup Champions all failed to make the second round.
With Nashville out, i guess i'm pulling for the Islanders.

| My hosts on the East Coast are sad I'm sure. I figure that St. Louis needed it and wanted it more. If you can determine such things. 4 to 1 though in game seven. Did the Bruins oversleep? | |

| Seems like the city of Boston has had one pro sports franchise or another bringing home big championships more than any other major metro area in the US over the last decade or two, and this past year the Red Sox won the World Series, the Patriots lost the Superbowl the year after winning it, the Celtics won a playoff series, and now the Bruins have lost the Stanley Cup Finals. So, along with Del, i'm not finding any breaks in my heart for Brad Marchand or any other Boston sports enthusiasts.
Congrats to Mister Maturin's home town. St. Louis is right up there with Baltimore, Detroit/Flint, and Cleveland in terms of being cities with great histories and still plenty of bright spots, but also lots of urban blight among other difficulties, which tend to get more news coverage than the bright spots. Without actually checking, i think their last major sports championships were that year the Cards won when Pujols was still there and before that, when the Rams were still there and being called The Greatest Show on Turf with Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce, Mike Martz et al.
