the irregulars

well this is a strange little show on netflix.

i just watched the first episode which seemed to go in weird directions but in the end coalesced.

it's a mixture of sherlock holmes spin-off, occult graphic novel, and prince and the pauper.

the irregulars themselves are plucky kids. i like them. they're worth rooting for. watson and holmes however may not be. quite a twist on them.

game of thrones fans will get a nice surprise.

on a personal note i have to finish the series by april 2nd because that's when my netflix subscription ends. they keep raising prices vs offering shows that i rarely want to finish. if they offered umbrella academy all the time well then there would be no problem! but they don't.

watched episodes 2 through 5. the irregulars becomes even more and more captivating even though in a plot sense it dangles from a string.

one thing i forgot to mention is that the casting is color-blind which the show makes no point of as bridgerton did for instance. the acting's all good so the casting was inherently right.

however i wonder if squeezing diverse casting into what must be called anglo scripts is really the ideal trend. wouldn't it be better simply to have more stories with multi-ethnic origins? i had this problem with a show like sense8 even though i enjoyed much of the series.

i think the irregulars has a lot to say and is definitely worth a watch.

finished all 8 episodes.

it was wild and crazy from beginning to end.

it definitely wrapped things up---not. a sequel is obvious.

Yet to finish. Kinda hit or miss for me.
