Well we lost 7-5 but it was a pretty good game. Our pitching let us down but scoring 5 runs and almost coming back was far better than they normally do.

This loss sucks most because I don't expect to win tomorrow since who knows what condition Halladay is in.

Tigers win #1, Verlander of course, only pitched 5 shutout innings, probably because it was so damn cold in Minneapolis - something like 35

I was watching Darvish pitch his near perfect game. I screamed when that base hit went through.

Cards are 1-1....Was super proud of Garcia last night....and the offense woke up. Good game.

It is strange to see the Astros in the A.L., gonna take some getting used to.

I know, but after starting 1-5, and 0-6 the last 2 years, it's nice to look good in the first few games.

now we get to see what the bottom half of the rotation can give us, if the sox are going anwhere, they needed exactly what they got out of Buch and lester, if they can find one guy out of the next three that step up, they will compete, or at least have the three guys take turns with one of them getting on a streak at a time. overall, i'm likin the team so far. Must've been a bitch playing baseball in that weather though, I was outside at my house for about 10 minutes and was freezing

But Utley looks great (he's been our offense), Dom is still getting on base.

I don't expect Hamels to continue to get knocked around. And Doc? After that first inning, he came out pissed and looked a lot better - 9 strikeouts in 3.1 innings. I think we're calling that "oddly encouraging"

still very early, i'm just encouraged because they actually are scoring some runs, without any power whatsoever in the lineup and with two outs to boot. Halladay is too good to just fall off a cliff.

You'd think so but he doesn't look good. And our offense seems to have been left behind in Florida. Of course, they are notorious for not playing well in the cold so maybe that has something to do with it. And we're missing Chooch - he usually can pull things together when they go astray.

and I know its early, but the sky falls down early (and often) in Philly

Boston too, the first bad game the sox have , there will be hundreds of calls to radio stations to trade this guy, fire the manager, they're all done, the front office is a bunch of morons, it's really kinda fun to listen to all the schmucks making phone calls from their mom's basement who KNOW exactly what the team needs to win

yeah mee too, tough loss last night, Dempster wasn't quite at his best, but I think he will help this year.

I think so, if he has that split finger fastball back....as the article says, he became a 1 pitch pitcher last year, and they caught onto him really quickly. I don't like Phil Coke as a closer, don't trust him...

I think so, if he has that split finger fastball back....as the article says, he became a 1 pitch pitcher last year, and they caught onto him really quickly. I don't like Phil Coke as a closer, don't trust him...

sometimes they just have a down year, for whatever reason. Maybe they'll bring him up again

Waiting for the home opener on Monday. The season won't feel totally official until then.

Our loss in 16 innings the other night was a bummer. I stayed up as late as I could and fell asleep, i woke up at exactly 1:40 when the D-backs won, I said damnit and turned off the TV.

I hate extra innings like that
