NFL Pro Football Pick 'ems 2019

Let's look at the rest of this week's slate, shall we?

Tampa @ Atlanta is a coin toss game, and there are several classic trap games this weekend too:

Pittsburgh @ Bengals
Detroit @ Washington
Carolina @ Saints
Giants @ Chicago
Raiders @ Jets

The 6-4 Rams are 3 point underdogs at the 8-2 Ravens, and 65% of Yahoo Pick'em players are taking the Rams.

So other than the games mentioned in the previous post, we have: the Jags going to Nashville, the Titans are favored by a field goal, which with them at home is essentially a line just to have one so people will bet; and we have the Browns hosting Miami, which is potentially the one truly safe bet in a pick'ems league.

It should be one fun week, y'all!

Being at the bottom of another weeks Pick'ems has become second nature to yours truly.
I even played it safe by picking the Patriots over the Cowboys.
How does someone pick the Jets over the Raiders? No way that should happen.
And thanks to my new BFF (TBC), I made the right choice in the Seahawks/Eagles matlchup.

Now it's a four-way tie for first. I wonder if i'll still have the tie-breakers lead after tonight's massacre ends, when it'll be a three-way tie.

Hodge and Peggy Sawyer, y'all will finish the week with 9 points each, while nsguy wins the week with 12.

If I was you, and I'm glad I'm not, I'd watch out for Iwannablost. She doesn't like loosing (if you get my drift).

Speaking of Peggy Sawyer...I picked up 2 points on her this past week.
My plan is coming together.

If you beat me, Hodge, I'll retire in shame. As for the Rams, they had that game, but the sap coach played not to lose rather than win. Sucked the clock down even when they were moving the ball, all to minimize Lamar's touches. And man, I picked Cincinnati to break their losing streak last week, and they chose this week to do it. Such is this tricky game, which exposes one's so-called knowledge of football like no other.

Anyway, I'm going back to my tears over the Pats game now. It's the wake-up call they need, though. Two letters, Bob Kraft: AB!

They'll loose their hold on the Division Sunday night too. And yeah, I'm picking against them.

I'm holding steady against Peggy. Still 8-games behind. We both ended up with 10-wins last week.

HRD, how do you propose winning this thing? Other than winning more games than your closets rivals, do have another strategy?

I don't have a genuine strategy for winning the league, Hodge. I'll just try to pick up as many points as i can.

I guess everyone missed Falcons beating Niners?

It was the only game that every single one of us picked wrong, though i guess that could happen again tonight.

It was one of the games i agonized over, with Bills @ Pitt being the other. I also struggled a bit over the Detroit/Tampa game and Houston and Tennessee. I got all four wrong.

What got me were the games won by one individual:
Peggy was the only one to pick the Jaguars over the Raiders.
HRD was the only one to pick the Cardinals over the Browns.
Nsguy was the only one to pick the 'Boys over the Rams. And yeah, that includes me.  

But the good news...So far, I've picked up another point/game involving my epic battle with Peggy Sawyer. I love it when a plan comes together.  
I'm also one game away from winning the week.

Well, with MNF ending week 15, I can announce that I did pickup another point/game against Peggy. I also won the week.
If I'm not mistaken, I don't think I've ever won more than two weeks in a season. Hurrah for me!

I could still end this thing in fourth; just a few points gained and I'm there. As for you, Hodge, enjoy your little party of one. No one calls me a white whale and gets away with it.

As I recall, only Ishmael returned to tell the tale.

ETA: Huge games this week:

1. Packers vs. Vikings
2. Cowboys vs. Eagles
3. Bills vs. Patriots
4. Rams vs. 49ers.

I'm really thinking about picking the Bills over the Pats. (Oh Peggy!)

I feel pretty good about my performance so far this year. Currently third place, one point behind NY/ST and two behind Spidey. I'm still in the chase, and would be proud to finish anywhere in the top half of this group.

The year I won the whole thing, I remember going into, what I called, "safe-mode".

I had to take a chance and pick the Bills over the Pats.
As it stands now, I'm still tied with Peggy for the week.
This may call for desperate measures.

I'm trying to pickup games on Peggy, and she goes out and wins the week. I hate it when a plan goes to crap.

Eight down, with the playoffs coming.

Yeah, I picked the Titans over the Patriots. And yeah, I'm glad Peggy doesn't know where I live.

Oh, and I won "Playoff" Pick'ems, Wild-Card week.

Nicely done, Hodge. I forgot to put my pick in for the first game, but i was going to pick Buffalo anyway, so no harm done.

Brian/Leuthen and Marshall/Madman are 5 points behind me, with Peggy and nsguy 1 point behind them. I'm in third, 1 point behind NY/ST for second place. Our Commish has an untouchable 7 point lead for The Cup, with only 7 games to go.

That's who I thought Big John here was at first. Very glad it's not.

Big John is the former l-tv poster formerly known as: LongSufferer; Opaque Palace; John Charles (we frequently referred to him as JC "behind the curtain" which should not be confused with J_C who was never banned for any reason; Hendo; Captain Crunch; and many more, i could probably remember at least a few if i tried. Labeled a "predator" by John/TPTP.

So you were right. J_C is not the same person.

Yes, I went 4-0 this past weekend.
And, before you ask, I changed the winner of the Titans vs. Ravens game 500 times.

I somehow moved up to 4th place. I'll take that if it finishes that way.

Now it's official: commissioner SpidermanHouston won. Very sincere congratulations, Spidey. A popular win, I'm sure. So glad you've kept this going for so long; it's great fun for the banter as much as anything.

I managed to slither up to a second place finish, beating NY/ST, who tied my point total, based on tie-breakers.

I wonder if it was accumulated tie-breakers throughout the season or who did better predicting the SB. If i had to guess, i'd guess accumulated, because even though i had the winner right, i was pretty far off on the score. I'd expected the highest scoring SB in history.

Peggy Sawyer ended up at the bottom of a 3-way tie for fourth place(with nsguy and Leuthen), which translates as 6th place, but the overall point total was respectable at 163.

Hodgepodge finished two places further down the list at 8th with 158. At least you managed to pass IWBL, Hodge.

I expected to win Super Bowl week, remembering what I put down for the tiebreaker: (31-24), but I ended up last of the members who picked the Chiefs.

Regarding the Commish's request, I've got a couple of people I'm going to get next season. Why don't we all bring in an additional two people.
