Porcello is moving up the CY Young ladder, another great outing, pitched his way out of a jam and went 7 strong.

Bucholz had me cared in the 8th, but a good win and some separation from baltimore. though I really wish they could beat toronto.

also Mookie keeps climbing the MVP ranks too.

right now i'd give it altuve, but if houston drops further out of the playoff race, Mookie I think has the numbers and has been an integral part of the red sox being where they are, to take it.

imagine what his stats would have been if he was hitting 3rd-5th all season. His numbers are amazing considering the fact that for 80% of the season he was a leadoff hitter.

Plus he's a new young face of the MLB and may get the nod over some of the other guys

I agree about Mookie, his numbers are there, and the only other candidates who are close, Trout and Altuve aren't going to the Postseason.

If the Sox fall out of the race, Donaldson probably wins

However, if Boston does fall out, I would like to see Beltre win, he's carried Texas all season, with clutch hit after clutch hit.

i never understood why the sox didn't re-sign him when he played in Boston. he's been nothing buty a consistent clutch hitter for his entire career.

yeah, he's a monster at the plate, and toronto is nowhere without him.

I bet altuve wins of they stay in it, but if mookie keeps up the pace he's on, he's gonna be a hoard guy not to vote for.

I knew he was good, but man he's having a better year that I ever thought he would.

he could finish with 35 HR's and 115 RBI or more, for a lead off hitter for most of the season that's incredible

Now pomeranz needs to continue pitching well tonight, and we need help from Baltimore to cool toronto off.

and listening to all your ranger fan friends gloat over it every time he gets a hit I'm sure

dammit they need a bullpen guy who can hold a lead, or at least not allow the only guy on a team to that can hit to get a homer.

Yep, losing to the Rays stings, especially in a game we should have won

somebody needs to hit Tazawa in the elbow with a lead pipe, I think that's the only way that Farrell will stop using him.

they had better get somebody up to pitch in the 8th inning, right now there is noone who seems to be able to hold a friggin lead in the later innings.

I honestly am surprised they won that game.

But, now it's out west again then to toronto for a HUUUUUGGGGEEEE!!!!! series against the Jays.


I looked at baltimore's remaining games, they only have like 6 home games this month and under .500 on the road.

I'm thinking KC or detroit will be the other wild card and either the Sox or Toronto.

i'm hoping this much needed day off ( first 1 in 23 games, second one in 43 games) will let them get some much needed rest and they can finish the season strong enough to be playing in October!!!

My fingers are crossed, if they can pull it off though, they should be well tested for the postseason

i fthey can get anyone in the bullpen to help stabilize it they have a shot. the starting pitching has been more than good enough.

I would have left Bucholz in the rotation and let wright start a couple of games in the minors, he clearly isn't right, but other than him the starters are doing their job, the hitting is fine, it's really just the 7th/8th innings that are a concern at the moment.

maybe kelley, maybe Koji comes back and give them something to get six damn outs and hand it to kimbrel.

Either way, the have played beyond my expectations this year, they are going to play meaningful games in September, which is what you play for.

yup,
the fact that they are in it on labor day is a surprise to me.

the offense has been much better than I could've hoped for, the pitching since the all star break has been fine, who would have thought the bullpen is the only real problem they would have.

If kelley can get guys out in the 8th or kimbrel or someone, then they will be Ok.

They have the best offense in baseball, I never would have expected that

I'm rooting for them JJ, I gotta hand it to the cars, they seem to always be in the mix in Sept. the front office knows how to build a team and how to keep enough of it intact to contend every year, it's impressive.

Yeah, noone will run away with anything, but like I said, with the schedule they have it's their division to take.
If they can just keep winning series they should be in, noone is gonna go on any kind of winning streak that i can see

toronto's pitching is letting them down, baltimore has too many road games and the yankees don't ( I Hope) have enough talent to make a run

of course the sox have a lot of games against Tampa left who they just can't seem to beat

Hopefully they figure it out, Maybe Tampa won't be as good with all of the September callups

yeah right, they'll put some pitcher in nobody has ever heard of before and he'll throw 8 innings of no hit ball and be their number 1 starter next year

with a younger core next year will be better.
It'll take a couple of years, but the phillies will be back to a championship calibre team soon.

We've been wallowing for a while now but they have already matched the win total from last year so hopefully that was rock bottom

the sox took 2-3 from the Jays.

left on a 9 game road trip 2 games out of first, go 6-3 and end the trip up 2 games in the division

hard to believe but the Sox have ANOTHER 10 game road trip coming up after this homestand.

11 games, 9 games and now a 10 game road trip all in the last month or so.


Who thought that was a fair schedule??

I know, someone should br fired for the schedule making... If they off this off they will be well tested for the postseason

I really think they will be in the playoffs, and win the division.

I think they have figured out the bullpen for the most part and the starters, Bucholz aside yesterday, have been consistent enough to keep it from getting taxed too much, and the hitting is more than good enough to win games for them if they get in a jam.

It might come down to October 2nd with the Jays and sox ending the season at fenway.

The starters have been faltering a bit the last couple of weeks, at least everyone not named price or porcello.

Hopefully they get back on track. the bullpen has been great, but if you keep having 2 1/3 inning starts that won't last long.


That MAY have been the nail in the Yankees coffin, I'm sure that loss hurt as much as it helped the Sox.

Take 2 more from them out the next 3 and I'm happy, they should be able to and hope that tampa can play spoiler for the O's

I have a feeling that toronto will win some games they are better than they have been playing.
