winning the division is enough for me, they play well enough on the road.
More games at Fenway for the fans would be great, but not playing the wild card game is more important.

hanley is having a fairly good month so far, he picked the right time to see the ball well.

they need a couple of long outings from the starters this week, they have been burning up the bullpen.

Now they need to put Baltimore where they put the Yankees, in line for tee times in the beginning of October

looking to go 6-4 at least on this last loooooonnnnnnggggg road trip. yet another 10 game trip. man they have had some long ones this year

Baltimore 3-4, would be the best way to start off, but a split is more likely, 2-3 from each of the rays and yankees

8 straight, back to back 4 gm sweeps! SOX are finishing September strong!

Tough loss, should have pulled price last night, he was not at his best and with a rested bullpen they need to pull him. Still,
I'm looking for a win tonight and then rest and line up the pitching staff for next week. They are good enough to beat any of the teams they will potentially face, whether they have home field or not.

I would like to see them get the best record, having home field and playing a team who most likely used their number 1 to get in is a big advantage, but the division is way more important than that.

Terrible ending to a game where bucholz was fantastic and there is really no excuse for losing

they played the last 3 games like a team that had nothing to accomplish,

Now the real season begins.


The red sox, like all 9 other teams not making tee times, are 0-0, they are going up against a great manager who knows how to get his team to play at their best.

I CANNOT wait until thursday.

to be honest, I didn't put too much emphasis on the games they played over the weekend. there was alot going on, and even if they swept the series it would have been difficult to change their position. I would rather they just be rested and prepared to take on the Indians.


they should have the advantage with Cleveland's injuries, but you're right, they need to come out swinging and get the first game and put the pressure on Tito and the boys.

it will be interesting to see how the young'ens react to the pressure.

so one team doesn't use their closer and it costs them the game, one team does use it's closer and it costs them the game.

Last night was one of the best pitching performances , from both teams, that I've seen in a long time

MADBUM ( stupid nickname but I'll use it)
Is an absolute monster.
He looks like he's barely putting any effort into pitching and is just sooooo consistent it'll drive ya crazy. wherever he wants the ball to go it goes with virtually no mistakes

I'd hate to run up against him in a do or die game.


Thor ( fitting nickname) was almost his equal last night, did his job masterfully and it certainly wasn't his fault they lost.


So far 2 excellent games to start the post season, lets hope the Sox keep that streak going with a win tonight.

I'm happy they made it to the playoffs for him, now hopefully they finish this off with 11 more wins and send him off the right way, he deserves it.

Oh, man! I forgot how much of a Buster Posey fan I'm not! ...but I do like Hunter Pence. I don't like the Dodgers because they couldn't win 1 game against the Giants at the end of the season to allow the Cards a chance. I can't root for the Nationals because, ugh, Brat Harper. I can't root for the Cubs because it goes against all that is good in the world. I don't usually watch AL baseball until the playoffs, so I really don't know what's going on...but I can root for the Sox, I suppose.

Honestly after 2 years of the sox suckfest I'm just glad I'm able to watch playoff baseball.

To be honest, a cubs/red sox series would allow me to watch A- a red sox celebration
or
@- a Cubs celebration, which remembering how great it was when my team won will be worth watching.

Of course it will be fun watching the cubs get close then fall apart again.


so how about this, I'll root for the Giants, if they beat the cubs,if they lose, I'll then have to reassess who i'm going to root for

To be honest If the sox make to the WS, then there isn't a team I don't think they can beat, including the cubs.

Their offense is good enough, and if their pitching holds up they will put up a good fight against anyone left

frustrating game last night.
Porcello was a little over amped i think, and paid the price.

the offense was missing the killer B's, betts, bogaerts and bradley were invisible

Brock holt, benentendi, pedroia, leon, and ramirez all were there, as was papi.

they had more than enough chances just couldn't push that run over when they needed it.

we paid Price 217 million, he HAS to earn it today.

If they come home with a split the pressure is back on the Indians i think.

to me a split is what they should have been hoping for.

Francona is a good manager, has a talented team, and knows how to win in the post season.

with their line up, I might have considered pitching Erod in game 3, they are killers against righties.

But now that they need a win today, and hopefully Sunday, I have to go with the more experienced bucholz, man it hurts to say that.

they aslo need the killer B's to step up, I know they were probably a little over whelmed last night, but hopefully they got that out of their system and can get back to hitting.

Really impressed with benentndi, he is much more mature of a hitter than you would expect from a 22 year old who started in single A.

He looks like the real deal.

I like the 4 PM start time too, I think they play a little better sometimes during the day.

I'm hoping Kluber struggles a bit with the leg injury, and they have to go to a bullpen that they taxed by leaving Miller and their closer in for alot of pitches.

The key is Price, he needs to go deep and no give up any long balls

you can fly to Phoenix from here to catch a game between the canucks and coyotes
flight + hotel + game tickets + beer & hot dogs and its still cheaper than a couple of decent seats here

now that game 3 has been postponed, I assume porcello will pitch game 4 if they get there, but do you put Price back out there for a deciding game 5??


he just cannot pitch in the post season and thats a real problem.

I'd lean toward pitching Erod, withPomeranz and everyone else on deck if he struggles but i don't know that i could let the fate of the season rest on price if they make it game 5

I agree, but if it comes down to it, he will be pitching Game 5, no way they have enough balls to not start him.

I'm optimistic that they win today, and i really think that porcello will pitch better tomorrow and give them a chance.

if it comes down to the winner take all game, price will be out there, I'd say he will have a short leash, but they better have someone warmed up in the first dammit

It is hard to believe that someone who can pitch so well in the regular season is completely and totally unable to do so in the playoffs

Well shit, Goodbye Papi, thanks for the many years of service and for being the most clutch hitter these last 15 years, Sox need to add another starter or 2 in the offseason, make Price the 4 or 5, and with that being said, Go Cubs!
