what a way to end the game! it's why I keep watching and listening to games. koji gave up a dinger himself in the top of the tenth for his first earned run in more than 22 innings.

| It's like we're watching the same team One area the Phil's have really improved is the bullpen. In the last month they went from the worst ERA to 3rd best. The guys who they thought would be good are now really good. Even Papelbon has been great. | |

they have a chance, slim, but a chance of making the playofs. they ned the pitching to stay healthy, and maybe a bat besides brock holt to be more consistent. If they can run off a few wins on this west coast trip I will feel a little better. at least they are starting to win at home, even after winning 10 of the last 12 at home, they are only 1 game over 500. they need to be better at home and try stay around 500 on the road to have a chance at it. hopefully the american league wins the all star game so when st louis comes in again for the world series they have the home field

| we went 5-2 on our road trip - including a 2-2 split with the Cards
we'll see what happens against Miami the next couple of days. It would be nice to see them taking 2 out of 3 for the next couple of weeks.

Maybe next year they will be buyers in the Free Agent market instead of sellers. they will be, but like I said, i don't expect them to do much of anything at the trade deadline, they will probably deal peavey, maybe doubront, but I don't see them making any big moves. In another month they will be bringing up the kids to see what they have and making decisions about who they keep and who they deal during the trading season. i can live with it, after winning it all last year, i'm willing to give them a mulligan for this year and see what the young'ens have to offer.

the last 3 are, not soo sure about lester at this point. They would get more for him in a trade than they will if they let him walk. not looking good uehara is probably up for grabs, peavey, lackey, pzierzinski ( or however you spell his name, pretty much everyone except a chosen few.

yes but his average is right where they like their bench players to be I saw that one coming when Mayberry started coming up in trade talks - we'll need a backup CF. Or a starter if they manage to trade Revere.

Maybe they can string some wins together here playing the Cubbies.
still, that was a looooonnnnngggg half of a season.
but they are ONLY 6 games out with 80 to play, ya just never know.

the rest of the division sucks too, some of them more and some little less than the red sox. what looked like the strongest division in baseball at the start of the season has been anything ut to this point.

well the phillies decided to try their hand at the over 30 men's league appraoch and that didn't work out, and the red sox just decided as a whole team that scoring runs is unnecessary in the big leagues

Watching a 5 game losing streak is not fair to fans.

they already are scoring more runs per game than the sox, which to me is absolutely unforgivable. to be this bad, especially at home, against what should be beatable teams is just disheartening. they managed 2 damn hits against a nobody pitcher for the white sox. 2 HITS 2 DAMN HITS!!!!!!

even if they 'turn it around' they are too far gone to make the playoffs, they would need to go on a 12 game win streak just to get over .500 it would take every hitter in the lineup getting hot at the same time and the pitching to remain or be better than they have been all season. no way that's happening.
